Black Design on a Round Table: Two Approaches in a Real Custom Project – Details & Inspiration
A real case: with black elements round table – carbonized wood (textured) vs. black resin (glossy). We compare the two and explain the final choice. Find your inspiration.
You may have noticed the black section within the resin design of the round wood-and-epoxy table in your reference image.

There are two ways we can achieve this look:
Option 1
Use a naturally charred wood cross-section, similar to the blackened edges along the "river" section of the table shown below.
Deep blue resin with mirror gloss and sapphire‑to‑cobalt ripples.
Charred edges create black volcanic‑like borders.
Scorched black vs. warm walnut and electric blue – strong tension.
Moody, refined look for modern, industrial, or NW spaces.
Please note that this effect works best when the wood includes a large cross-section cut at an angle. Without that, the black feature may not be very noticeable in the finished table. If you'd like to go this route, we can specifically look for a slab with these characteristics during the wood selection process.
Option 2
Use black-tinted resin, like the example shown in the reference article.
This is the simplest way to achieve the look you're after. It allows us to control the size and placement of the black area without affecting the rest of the resin design. The result creates a beautiful layered effect and will more closely match the appearance of your reference image.
